We provide an automated news feed to let you know when anything has changed. Basically, when we update the details of a person, or group of people, we issue a news bulletin. Times between updates vary, depending on the amount of research we have to do first, but we’re aiming to get at least one or two a month out.

Subscribe to our email update service to receive automatic updates straight into your inbox. All you need is an email address.
GDPR
Please note that, as of the 25th May 2018 when the European General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into effect, we are obliged to ask you to explicitly opt in to our newsletter service, and also be able to provide evidence of your consent to us holding your email address.
To that end we have implemented a process of Sign-up Confirmation which means that once you subscribe you will receive an email confirmation of your subscription, which you must then confirm to activate the service. The second stage is important because without it, you will not be classed as an active subscriber.
Once that’s done, you’ll start to receive newsletters from the site.
What you get
- News as it happens: whenever a new item is added to any of our Update categories, you’ll receive an immediate update by email. These are not normally more than one a month, as they are linked directly to new content.
- Ad hoc newsletters: on occasions, we may send out newsletters to let you know about a special event or news item. These tend to be few and far between.
To subscribe for updates by email, simply enter your email address and hit the Sign Me Up button. A confirmation and activation email will be sent to you. Once your subscription has been activated, you’ll start to receive our emails.
You can unsubscribe at any time by simply clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each email, or send an email to webmaster@closeancestry.com. Upon receiving an unsubscribe request, your contact details will be permanently deleted from our systems and database within 30 days. Please do not just blacklist or dump the email into your Spam folder because this in turn can register the website as a spam producer. In this case, we will have no choice but to remove your subscription to this service.
If you want to change your options at any time, just unsubscribe using one of the methods above, and then re-subscribe from the site with your new preferences.

Subscribe to our automated feeds
We use automated feeds that you can plug straight into your browser, or a feed aggregator. Sounds painful, but all you have to do is click on any of the RSS buttons you may see around the site, and follow the instructions.
Each one will update you with something different. So, from our trees it would be people updates, from the gallery it would be image updates, and from the main site it would be news and posts.
Have a go … after all, what’s the worst that can happen?
And now for a bit of housekeeping
See the wood and the trees
We publish everything we have in our fabulous trees, so basically if you can’t find it, we don’t have it. With over 20,000 people, 5,000 families, 12,000 sources, and 69,000 image references currently sat in our database, you’ll appreciate the amount of work that has gone into this over the years.
You can see more in the Close Ancestry Trees.
Donations
We know that everyone in the world is after your hard-earned cash, but if you do feel a donation coming on as a result of your visit here, then please feel free to send it our way. It all goes towards the upkeep of the site, for which we charge absolutely nothing. So, please help us to keep the site free to use. Thanks.
