Note: U.S. Congressman. Born in Waterford, New York, he graduated from Union College, in 1801, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Waterford, New York. He was a Presidential Elector on the ticket of Jefferson and Clinton, in 1804, appointed a Master in Chancery in 1805, a member of the New York State Assembly, (1806-11) and served in the New York State Senate, (1823-25). In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses, serving until 1837. After his term, he again served in the New York State Senate in 1842. He died at age 91 in Waterford, New York. |
