Note: The information we have is that William married Elizabeth Thompson and had a bunch of kids. However, as far as we know, Elizabeth died in around 1835 which was before the census records began so we have no real way of validating her through public records. William, according to the census has another bunch of kids as well as the first set, together with a different wife Ann who was 15 years younger than him. That would make her too young to have spawned the first batch. So, we reckon that William remarried after Elizabeth died and started breeding again - hence the apparent discrepancy in the name of his wife and the gap between the two sets of children. We're going with this until proved wrong ... which being fair could easily happen. |
