We have an H Close here recorded as a son, but he's much older than the other two and his mother was born in a different place. If he was a son then he should have appeared on 1870 Federal Census and Cephas would have been Married or Widowed. Since none of these seem to have happened, think this is actually the nephew of Cephas, Hiram B Close, son of Augustus Hiram Close.

Marriage
Note: Estimate. The 1880 Federal Census shows Cephas as widowed, so he must have married after that.

Marriage
Note: Note: He had another son, Joseph Cephas Close, who was born after his death in 1893. Wife Josephine had already died in 1890, so he must have re-married again.

Birth of a son
Note: Appears to have been born after father Cephas B Close died, which implies that Cephas remarried after wife Josephine died in 1890. Given the death date of Cephas (November 1893), his wife at the time could have been pregnant when he died.

Joseph appears as the half-brother of Cephas Major Close on the 1900 US Federal Census.
