Note: ôThe then tenant of Crackpot Hall, Joseph Close who had followed Metcalfe and Ralph Scott (as tenant), was paid 10s.6d. (=52p) for damage done to his farm by mining, and his wife earned 5s. (5 shillings = 25p) for 2000 stoprods (wood for wattling the shaft of a mine). Joseph too, (like a previous tenant) hounded his neighbours sheep too roughlyö. |
