Note: NOTE: Emily appears to have been born around 1897 / 1898, but her supposed mother, Jemima Brown (nee Coker), looks to have been residing in the Bethnal Asylum at this point. There's no obvious record of Emily Brown being born in the Bethnal Green / Hackney areas at this time. However, there is a reference to Emily Ford born 1897 at Bethnal Green. NOTE: Emily appears to have been born around 1897 / 1898, but her supposed mother, Jemima Brown (nee Coker), looks to have been residing in the Bethnal Asylum at this point. There's no obvious record of Emily Brown being born in the Bethnal Green / Hackney areas at this time. However, there is a reference to Emily Ford born 1897 at Bethnal Green. Charles Brown and Emma Close (Ford at that time) were neighbours in Bethnal Green in the first half of the 1890's. I suspect that when Emma's husband died in 1892 and Charle's wife was incarcerated in 1895, the two became good friends. |
