Note on source	There is a clear masonic emblem at the top of the gravestone, the Square and Compasses. Implying that John was not only an operative Stone Mason, but also a Freemason. The memorial inscription reads: Here lies departed the remains of John Close mason late of Winston who departed this life October 3rd 1843 aged 62 years Also Jane his wife who died December 29th 1854 aged 75 years
